Specialties and expertise

Care that meets you where you are.

Every person who walks through my door brings a unique story. My work spans a wide range of mental health needs — from everyday stress to complex conditions — always with the same commitment: to understand you fully before anything else.

Top specialties

These are the areas where I bring the deepest experience and the most personal investment.

Veterans

As a fellow veteran, I know that asking for help takes courage — and I know what life in service actually feels like. This is a space built on mutual respect, where your experiences are understood, not just acknowledged.

Medication

Managing and finding the right medication is a process, not a single prescription. I work closely with you over time — monitoring, adjusting, and listening — so your treatment evolves as you do.

Depression

Depression can make everything — including reaching out — feel impossible. I meet you exactly where you are, and we build from there. Recovery isn’t linear, but it is possible, and you won’t navigate it alone.

Areas of expertise

MIND AND MOOD

Anxiety

Racing thoughts, constant worry, or feeling on edge. Anxiety is exhausting. We'll work together to quiet the noise and build tools that help you feel grounded in your own life again.

Bipolar Disorder

Handling emotional ups and downs can feel unpredictable. Managing bipolar disorder means finding balance — in mood, in medication, and in life. I provide consistent, knowledgeable support through every phase.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD)

Intrusive and obsessive thoughts and compulsive cycles are real and treatable. Using evidence-based approaches, we'll work to reduce their hold on your daily life.

Chronic Impulsivity

Acting before thinking. When actions feel hard to control, it can impact relationships and daily life and create real consequences. Together we explore what drives impulsive patterns and build more intentional responses.

Emotional disturbance

When your emotions feel bigger than you can manage, that's not a flaw — it's a signal. We work to understand what's underneath and build real stability.

Dual diagnosis

When mental health and substance use overlap, care needs to address both — not one at the expense of the other. I take an integrated, whole-person approach.

TRAUMA AND LIFE TRANSITIONS

Grief & Loss

Grief doesn’t follow a timeline, and there's no right way to experience it. I offer a compassionate space to process loss at your own pace.

Family conflict

Family relationships can be our greatest source of pain and healing. I help individuals navigate conflict, boundaries, and communication with the people who matter most.

Anger management

Anger is a valid emotion — what matters is what we do with it. I help you understand your triggers and respond with clarity rather than react with regret.

Coping skills

Life will always bring difficulty. Building a strong toolkit of coping strategies means you're prepared — not just for today's challenges, but for whatever comes next.

Stress

Chronic stress affects everything — sleep, health, relationships, clarity. We'll work to identify what's driving it and create real, sustainable relief.

Behavioral issues

Behavior is communication. I work to understand the root of difficult patterns — not just manage them — so lasting change becomes possible.

IDENTITY AND COMMUNITY

First responders

The weight of what first responders witness doesn't just disappear after a shift. I provide a private, judgment-free space to process and recover.

Men's issues

Men are often taught to push through rather than open up. Carry their pressure silently. I offer a space where vulnerability is met with strength, and asking for help is understood as courage.

Caregivers

Caring for others is one of the most selfless things a person can do — and one of the most depleting. Your wellbeing matters too, and this is a space for you.

Sports performance

Mental performance is just as trainable as physical performance. I work with athletes to build focus, resilience, and confidence from the inside out.

NEURODEVELOPMENT AND COMPLEXITY

ADHD

ADHD isn't a lack of effort — it's a different way of processing the world. I help you understand your brain, work with it, and build systems that actually fit your life.

Autism

I provide affirming, individualized support for autistic individuals and their families — focused on quality of life, communication, and genuine wellbeing.

Eating disorders

Eating disorders are complex, serious, and deeply personal. I approach this work with care, sensitivity, and evidence-based strategies that support true recovery.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to help you take the first step.

It’s normal to have questions before reaching out — especially about something as personal as mental health. Here are honest answers to the questions I hear most often. If you don’t see yours, reach out directly.

Can I see you if I only want therapy and not medication?

Yes. I provide psychotherapy and do not require medication as part of treatment. Every care plan is individualized — some patients benefit from therapy alone, others from medication alone, and many from a combination of both. We determine what approach makes the most sense together, based on your needs and goals.

How do I know if I need medication?

That’s a question we work through together during your psychiatric evaluation. Medication is never a decision made without your full understanding and input. I review your history, symptoms, lifestyle, and preferences before making any recommendation. The goal is always care that fits your life — not a one-size-fits-all solution.

How long does it take to start feeling better?

Recovery looks different for every person and every condition. Some people notice improvements within weeks — particularly with medication management or structured therapy. Others may take longer, especially when addressing complex trauma, grief, or long-standing conditions. I will stay with you through the process, adjusting treatment as needed. Healing is not linear, but it is possible.

Do you work with patients long-term or only short-term?

Both. Some patients benefit from short-term, focused support around a specific challenge or life transition. Others engage in longer-term care for ongoing conditions like bipolar disorder, ADHD, or depression. Treatment length is always guided by what genuinely serves you — not a fixed program.

Can mental health treatment help with sleep problems?

Yes. Sleep disruption is often closely linked to anxiety, depression, PTSD, and bipolar disorder. Addressing the underlying mental health issue frequently leads to significant improvements in sleep. I consider sleep as an important part of overall wellbeing and incorporate it into treatment planning when relevant.

Can stress and anxiety cause physical symptoms?

Yes. The mind and body are deeply connected. Anxiety and chronic stress can cause very real physical symptoms including headaches, fatigue, muscle tension, sleep disruption, and digestive issues. I take a holistic view of health, considering both emotional and physical dimensions. Treating the mental health root often leads to improvement across the board.

You Don’t Have to Navigate This Alone

Taking the first step toward mental health support can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to do it on your own. Tejon is here to listen, understand, and guide you toward a path that feels right for you.
